Over the last few months I have come to appreciate Sunday for what it is. I didn't fully understand why it was important to have a "day of rest" until we were actually resting from the craziness of our house building process, after all Mom's never really get a "day of rest".
But, it didn't take long for Sunday to become my favorite day of the week.
Today I am sitting in our beautiful home, fully moved out of the rental, and surrounded by a lot of unpacked boxes and surfaces needing to be wiped down. We worked really hard on Saturday to clean and unpack the kitchen and set up the family room the best we could so we could really enjoy our first Sunday here.
And we did!!
For weeks now Hannah has been asking if she could make something with Samantha's Easy Bake Oven, and every time I have told her it would have to wait until after we moved. I was so happy to be able to finally say "yes" when she asked to use it today.
After we cleaned up our lunch mess I pulled it out and her and Samantha got to work. I only answered a few questions and they did the rest themselves, even cleaning up their mess when they finished.
They were so proud of that crispy little cake and thought it was one of the best things they have ever eaten.
I am pretty sure I am going to have to start a Pinterest board with different Easy Bake recipes they can try.
I am looking forward to many more Sunday's with my little family, especially as our kids grow older and get involved with more and more activities. It has truly become a very treasured day to me and I am grateful for a loving Heavenly Father who knew just how much we would need Sunday's in our crazy busy lives!!
